SMITHS FALLS, Ontario — Canopy Growth, a diversified cannabis, hemp and vaporization device company, is putting its first cannabidiol (CBD) vape, whisl, on shelves at 3,000-plus Laval-Quebec-based Circle K convenience stores nationwide starting Oct. 1.
The nicotine-free CBD vaporizer is designed to deliver the effects of CBD from morning, throughout the day and into the night, the company said. The design incorporates interchangeable pods in three options to help consumers select their desired effect— focus, calm or winding down before bed— as their needs and activities shift throughout the day. The three options are:
Canopy Growth tests whisl for quality, safety and efficacy, and the company said it offers a means for users to manage mood and to experience the benefits of CBD, conveying effects in seconds or minutes compared with longer-onset CBD ingestibles.
“At Canopy Growth, we are pioneering the concept of using CBD to help consumers manage their moods at any given time of day,” said Andy Lytwynec, vice president, global vape business at Smiths Falls, Ontario-based Canopy Growth. “With whisl, we want to empower consumers to quickly achieve focus, calmness or prepare for sleep with a modern CBD solution that is fast-acting and can fit seamlessly into anyone’s daily routine.”
Each whisl pod contains 200 mg of CBD isolate, a purified form of CBD, sourced from licensed hemp providers in the United States, and no THC, the company said. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) is $39.99 for the starter kit and $19.99 per package. The devices come in two colors, gray and blue, and feature a rechargeable aluminum battery and the following safety and quality features:
The partnership with Circle K marks Canopy Growth's largest national retail launch yet.
Canopy Growth, which earlier this year entered the U.S. CBD beverage category with the launch of Quatreau and also introduced Martha Stewart CBD for Pet, offers product varieties in dried flower, oil, softgel capsule, infused beverage, edible and topical formats, as well as vaporizer devices.
