Ohio deputies recently came across a dangerous vape pen containing a mixture of methamphetamines, which they say is rare in southeastern Ohio.

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a vape pen, otherwise known as an e-cigarette, that contained a mixture of flavored nicotine oil and illegal narcotics.

Deputies tested the oil that had been leaking from the cartridge while they were out in the field and said the oil presumably tested positive for methamphetamines.

The oil was then sent to the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement laboratory who confirmed the substance had methamphetamines in it.

According to the sheriff's office, this is the first case of a vape pen containing a mixture of methamphetamines that's been reported by officials in southeastern and central Ohio. It's also the first case that the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement laboratory came across for the six counties the lab tests for.

Deputies want to send a warning to the public about the dangers of using unknown fluids or cartridges in vape pens that are not purchased from a credible store. They recognize that vaping has become especially popular among children and young adults.
