The first ever ‘Galaxy Trophy’ Under 25 National Volleyball Championship organized by Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation in Association with Boshang Lanka Investment Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. a Chines construction firm continued at the Dadella Volleyball House in Galle.

The first round of the championship for women which got under way last Wednesday ended on Saturday with four teams making their way to semifinals. From group ‘A’ Sri Lanka Navy and Hirdaramani SC entered semis while Mahauswewa SC and Sri Lanka Air Force qualified from group ‘B’. In the first semifinal Sri Lanka Air Force will take on Hirdaramani SC while in the second semifinal Mahauswewa will battle with Sri Lanka Navy.

The Men’s Championship commenced on Sunday saw four matches being completed. Two leading teams Ceylon Electricity Board SC and Golden Tigers SC won hard fought victories. United Sports Club, Nattandiya and Sri Lanka Air Force used all their tactics to overcome stiff opposition from their opponents.

SL Navy beat NAS Casual Line 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-21)

Mahauswewa Beat NYSC 25-9, 25-12, 25-9)

Vijayaba SC beat Golden Birds SC 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-17)

SL Navy beat Super Kings SC 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-23, 25-15)

Hirdaramani SC beat MAS Casual Line 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-23)

SL Air Force beat Golden Birds 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14)

Vijayaba SC beat NYSC 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-7)

MEN: Golden Tigers SC beat United SC, Nattandiya 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 15=9)

Joseph Vaz SC beat SL Army 3-0 (25-19, 25-17,25-15)

Ceylon Electricity Board beat SL Air Force 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-13)

SL Navy beat Joseph Vaz SC 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-18)
