Children and their families can drop by the Community Room between 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11 to meet Sally Cragin and some of the registered therapy pets from local organization Be PAWSitive: Therapy Pets and Community Education, including Spencer the Cat. During their visit, children can read to a pet and complete a drop-in craft. No registration required!

Children aged 6-12 are invited to join us on Monday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. for a hands-on workshop led by two SEED scientists. Participants will join SEED scientists to learn about oil spills, why they happen, how they happen, and who is affected. Participants will act as environmental engineers as they are challenged to clean an oil spill in their own model ocean. Registration is required and begins Aug. 8. Sponsored by a generous donation from Digital Federal Credit Union.

Children and their families are welcome to join us on Monday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. for a movie night! Wear your pajamas, bring a pillow and a blanket, and enjoy some snacks as we watch “Moana” (PG). “An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.” — Rotten Tomatoes. No registration is required. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Children aged 8-13 are invited to join us on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 10am for Shine Bright! Participants will paint a ceramic bisque star votive any way they like. They will take their painted piece home with a faux tea light. Makes a perfect decoration for your room, to use as a night light, or to give as a gift. Registration is required and begins Aug. 9.

Tweens aged 9-12 are welcome to come to the Tween Area of the Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children's Room on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. to explore and create with our Makerspace Carts.
